The Riverside County Department of Waste Resources will host a free backyard composting workshop in Hemet on Saturday (March 19).
Attend this “how-to” workshop to learn how to recycle organic resources such as yard trimmings, fruit and vegetable waste into a dark, crumbly, sweet-smelling soil conditioner. Compost can be used to enrich the soil in gardens, lawns and house plants. Instead of putting organic waste in the garbage to be hauled to the landfill, learn to compost.
Anyone interested in running for office in the June 7 Primary Election may file papers for candidacy until 5 p.m. on Friday (March 11). If an incumbent fails to file, the deadline for that office will be extended to 5 p.m. on March 16 for everyone except the incumbent.
