Vote-by-mail ballots for March 25 election on the way starting Monday

Approximately 78,000 vote-by-mail ballots will be mailed to voters starting Monday (Feb. 24) for the special primary election in the 23rd Senate District on March 25. Ballots should arrive in mailboxes by the end of the week. Voted ballots must be received by the Registrar of Voters office by 8 p.m. on March 25 to be counted in the upcoming election.

Sample ballots and information pamphlets on the way for March 25 election

Approximately  136,000 sample ballots and information pamphlets will start going out to voters  tomorrow (Feb. 13) for the state Senate District 23 special primary election on  March 25.  About half will be mailed initially, with the remainder sent to  voters by sometime early next week.

County Assessor Larry Ward announces he will not seek re-election

Larry Ward, Riverside County's Assessor-Clerk-Recorder, announced today that he will not seek re-election to a third term. Ward has been with the office for over 35 years and was appointed to the position by the Board of Supervisors in 2005, when former Assessor Gary Orso retired. He was elected to his first term in 2006.

“Free the Food Trucks” ordinance approved in Riverside County

Annual licenses will be available April 8

The Riverside County Board of Supervisors today voted 5-0 to “Free the Food Trucks” in the county beginning April 8.  Riverside County is possibly the only county in California that had maintained an outright prohibition on preparing hot food in a mobile food facility without a special-event permit.

County names Michael Stock as new human resources director

Michael Stock, an assistant human resources director for Riverside County, has been named to head the county Human Resources Department. Stock succeeds Barbara Olivier, who retires Monday (Dec. 2) after three-and-a-half years as director and 14 years working for the department.
