A third Riverside County community testing site has been established at Harvest Christian Fellowship church in Riverside for residents who want to be tested for coronavirus (COVID-19).

Riverside County receives federal medical station to increase hospital capacity

Riverside County health and emergency management officials received a federal medical station (FMS) from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.

Starting tomorrow morning, the California National Guard will be at the fairgrounds in Indio to set up a portion of the FMS in an existing building. The California National Guard will not perform any law enforcement activities. The station will provide an additional 250 beds to the county’s overall hospital system, which will ease the burden from an expected surge in COVID-19 cases.

$10 million in state funding to address homelessness in Riverside County

Funds pave the way for more capital improvement, service and youth projects in several communities

For the first time, just over $10 million dollars in state funding has been awarded to agencies and cities that help the homeless individuals and families in Riverside County.   In issuing the funding, the state required the county to use the existing Continuum of Care structure created by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development to manage federal grants for homeless programs.

Riverside - The number of homeless people in Riverside County decreased by 4 percent compared to a count last year. This year’s “point in time” count totaled 2,310 adults and children, compared to 2,406 in 2017.
