Regional Partners to Seek Expansion of Services during Excessive Heat Waves 

PALM SPRINGS – The County of Riverside and City of Palm Springs partnered this week to open a temporary cooling center for homeless residents to escape the evening heat. The overnight cooling center ran from Tuesday to Thursday evening. The pop-up center provided 70 overnight beds combined from Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday nights.

$10 million in state funding to address homelessness in Riverside County

Funds pave the way for more capital improvement, service and youth projects in several communities

For the first time, just over $10 million dollars in state funding has been awarded to agencies and cities that help the homeless individuals and families in Riverside County.   In issuing the funding, the state required the county to use the existing Continuum of Care structure created by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development to manage federal grants for homeless programs.
