Flight from Wuhan, China expected to arrive at March Air Reserve Base Wednesday

January 29, 2020

Riverside County officials are working with state and federal partners to assist nearly 210 U.S. citizens who are expected to arrive Wednesday, Jan. 29, at March Air Reserve Base after a flight from Wuhan, China, where the coronavirus has infected thousands.

The flight is expected to arrive early Wednesday.

"Once we were informed of the possibility the flight would arrive at March, we began a collaborative process for a plan to protect the health and well-being of the passengers and the residents of Riverside County," said Dr. Cameron Kaiser, county public health officer.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the passengers left China and flew to Anchorage, Alaska, where they were given a health screening before flying to Riverside County. Once they arrive in Riverside County, they will undergo another health review. Riverside County Public Health workers will assist federal officials with the screening process immediately after the passengers walk off the plane.

"The screening process will be very thorough and ensure these people can get back home and not put anyone at risk," said Kaiser.

There are no confirmed cases of coronavirus in Riverside County.
