Free flu shots will be offered to the public next week at a clinic conducted as part of the Riverside County Public Health Department’s flu pandemic drill. The free flu shots are scheduled from 9 a.m. to noon on Oct. 2 at the Sun City Civic Association, 26850 Sun City Blvd. in Sun City. Shots will be given out as long as they last.
"At Public Health, we know we need to be ready in the event of a public health emergency. Providing vaccinations as part of a drill is one of the ways that we can test our system,” said Dr. Cameron Kaiser, Riverside County public health officer. “It’s a win-win. We test our capabilities and residents get a free flu shot.”
The flu vaccine is recommended for everyone over the age of 6 months. Children younger than 3 should see their health-care provider or visit one of the Riverside University Health System – Care Clinics. Vaccination is key to avoiding influenza. Prevention tips include staying home when ill, washing hands often and sneezing and coughing into your elbow, not your hand.
Nothing is required from people who wish to participate. Car service will be available for vehicles with a handicapped sticker or placard.
