Candidate filing opens Monday for Nov. 4 general election

Anyone interested in running for offices on the Nov. 4 general election ballot may take out candidate filing papers beginning Monday (July 14).  Papers must be filed by 5 p.m. on Aug. 8.  If an incumbent fails to file, the deadline for that office will be extended to 5 p.m. on Aug. 13, for everyone except the incumbent.

Electric Vehicle Charging Infrastructure Grant

The Riverside County Economic Development Agency (EDA) has received an approved award for the California Energy Commission’s Electric Vehicle Charging Infrastructure Grant (PON-13-606). The grant award is $497,357 over the 3-year period of performance. This was a state-wide, competitive grant, and EDA scored in the top 5 of 39 applicants and had the highest score of all Southern California applicants.

Property values across Riverside County will increase by 7.74 percent overall this year, the largest percentage increase since 2007 and the highest total assessment-roll value since 2008, Assessor Larry Ward said today. Even better for Riverside County residents, the average property owner will not see a comparable property tax increase.
