A Superior Court judge today denied a request that would have forced Riverside County to continue providing fire services in the City of Canyon Lake, even after the current contract for those services expires tonight (June 30) at midnight.
With Canyon Lake’s continued refusal to pay almost $2 million owed under a soon-to-expire contract for fire/emergency-medical services, Riverside County notified the city today it intends to withhold a portion of the city’s property-tax share in order to satisfy the city’s mounting debt.
Riverside County has filed a claim demanding that the City of Canyon Lake pay almost $1 million in past-due bills for firefighting and emergency medical services the county provided as long as a year ago. The claim (attached) was filed with the city on Wednesday (1/7).
