Riverside County completes its first ever “Hackathon” contest

The County of Riverside has completed its first ever “Hackathon.”  A Hackathon is a short contest in which programmers develop and design applications to make better use of public data.  The event, known as “RivCodes,” took place on June 28 and 29 at the Riverside County Innovation Center.

“Hackathon” contest by county and Smart Riverside aims for apps that help residents

A contest that challenges computer programmers to develop and design applications using public data will be hosted later this month by the Riverside County Information Technology Department and SmartRiverside. The event’s goal is to develop ways to make information more readily available to the public and to give programmers and software developers the opportunity to build new applications, or apps, in order to improve communication with residents.
