Trucks, school buses and other commercial vehicles that exceed seven tons will be prohibited for two to four weeks on a section of Mockingbird Canyon Road, near the City  of Riverside, because of damage caused by recent storms.

Emergency construction crews yesterday (3/15) began repairing an undermined box culvert beneath the road, approximately seven-tenths of mile south of Van Buren Boulevard. Commercial vehicles weighing more than seven tons will be prohibited during the repairs. Other traffic may continue to use the road but motorists might consider the following alternate routes because of potential delays:

From Van Buren Boulevard, head south on Washington Street and turn right on Harley John Road.

From El Sobrante Road, turn left on Cajalco Road and then left on Harley John Road and transition to Washington Street, and proceed to Van Buren Boulevard.

Safety crews with flags will be directing traffic between 6 a.m. and 6 p.m. on weekdays and weekends. While the project is expected to last two to four weeks depending on the weather, traffic could be restricted further or prohibited entirely if another storm causes concern about more damage.

Information about the closure will be available at http://rctlma.org/trans/Road-Maintenance/Road-Closures.
