LA QUINTA – Due to limited parking and seating capacity at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, public parking and a satellite location to view Tuesday’s funeral service for Supervisor John J. Benoit will be set up at Southwest Church in Indian Wells.

Parking will NOT be available to the general public at St. Francis of Assisi Church, where the funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday.

The public instead should park at Southwest Church in Indian Wells, 44-175 Washington St., and arrive there early. Starting at 8 a.m. Tuesday, SunLine Transit Agency and Cardiff Limousine & Transportation buses will shuttle people to and from the St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church for the service, until capacity at the parish is reached.

Once St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church is full, seating to watch the service will only be available at Southwest Church via a live feed from St. Francis.

Media will not be allowed at St. Francis, but are welcome at Southwest Church. The live video feed will be made available to the media and the public, as will photographs of the funeral. Additional details on how to access the video and the photographs will be made available to media later this week.

A rosary will be said at 6 p.m. Monday, Jan. 9 at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, 47-225 Washington St., La Quinta. Public viewing will be available from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday.

The Benoit family asks that dignitaries register their attendance for the funeral Mass at https://benoitmemorial.eventbrite.com.

The family also asks that donations in lieu of flowers be sent to the United Way of the Desert.
